Nike and Parra – a combination that once has led to one of collector’s most sought-after Air Max 1 silhouettes. The 2005 released “Amsterdam” and especially the Friends and Family version with Parra-Stitching on the mudguard are still among the top grails of many sneaker lovers. This is topped only by the never officially released sample, the “Albert Heijn”, of which only a handful are floating around. And now, 13 years later, we can once again look forward to a collaboration between Nike and the Maastrich-born and Amsterdam-based artist.

And this time it’s not just a Nike Air Max 1. Also a Nike Air Zoom Spiridon got a special and distinctive  Parra-treatment and to top it off he even designed a complete tracksuit. To celebrate this release, Nike has invited to an exclusive dinner in a very special location with, in addition to some of their own staff and of #TEAMOVERKILL, guests like Simon Kaiser & the guys of Sucuk & Bratwurst, the blogger Eda Vendetta, Christopher Deadstock & Masha Medusa and the Rapper Dendemann.

The dinner took place in Kreuzberg in an originally vacant industrial hall, where an oversized Nike x Parra shoe box was built. The rest of the hall has been turned into a gallery displaying the works of Parra that he created as part of this collaboration. After Christian Tarcea of Nike and Marc gave short speeches, the guests began to look around and explore the location. One of the highlights was a room in which a video installation by Parra was thrown to the ceiling and where markers invited to paint the (still) white walls.
Of particular note are the details like Nike napkin holders, Parra glasses to Parra x Nike coasters – really lovely. And before everyone went to dinner, there were also gifts for all guests in the form of the Air Max 1, the tracksuit and a branded spray can. And of course the dinner was also great!
This exhibition should not withheld from the public! This location is also the place where the happy raffle winners can buy their shoes or the tracksuit but for those who just would like to visit this fantastic installation, the hall is open for a limited time.
