adidas Equipment Overkill CSG 91

Release des adidas Equipment CSG 91 Overkill ist am 16.10.2021 Instore in Köln ab 10Uhr (first come first served).

„Life needs Equipment“

„Equipment is a no ‚bullshit‘ word, you don’t have a piece of equipment to have fun with, you a piece of equipment to make you better.”
Peter Moore

adidas Equipment turns thirty this year. To celebrate this adidas Consortium has launched the “Life needs Equipment” campaign. As part of the Consortium network, we are especially proud to be a partner of this project and present you our adidas Overkill CSG 91.

adidas Equipment CSG 91 Overkill

The Adidas Equipment CSG 91 is a hybrid model and is composed of three different adidas EQT models. The name Equipment CSG 91 is already a little hint about which three models we are talking about. The C in the name stands for “Cushion”, the S for “Support” and the G for “Guidance”. The 91 is a charming reference to the year 1991, when the Equipment series was first launched.
The forefoot area is dedicated to the 91 Guidance. On the toebox is the, for the Guidance 91, typical embroidered shape stripe and with the 3 stripe stitching. The heel area is also from the Guidance. Unlike the Cushion and Support, it has no heel cap.
The middle part of the shoe mirrors the 91 Support. The colored 3 stripes stand out in particular. Thanks to subtle pastel colors, the CSG 91 Overkill remains timeless.
The hybrid is rounded off with the midsole construction of the Cushion. The look of the CSG 91 Overkill is also rounded off by other material details that are reminiscent of the Cushion.

So it’s safe to say that the Equipment CSG 91 is a tribute to the first generation of adidas Equipment running shoes. “Homage” was the first working title of our model the name was changed to CSG 91 for unknown reasons. The working title played a formative role in our color selection. True to the title “Hommage” we wanted to reinterpret the iconic EQT colors green / red / blue and translate them into modern times. Those who know our passion for pastel tones understand why we wanted to leave a link to the old series with fresh pastel tones.
We continued this thought when it came to the color scheme of our Adidas Equipment CSG 91 Overkill. Marc, CEO of Overkill and equipment lover from the beginning, took inspiration from the three iconic colors of the first series. Adding a charming twist to the green, red and blue colors with a pastel twist.
We wanted to live up to the vibe and history of the legendary Equipment series, while giving you a timeless colorway. What seems simple at first glance is a huge show of love and bow to one of the strongest sneaker lines ever.

Release of the adidas Equipment CSG 91 Overkill is 16.10.2021 and that’s instore in Cologne. That’s right: we celebrate the opening of Overkill Cologne with the release of the adidas Equipment CSG 91 Overkill.
For everyone in/around Berlin we also have good news. One week later, so on 23.10.2021 there will be a instore release in our Berlin store in Kreuzberg.
For both releases: first come, first served.
If there are still pairs left after the release in Berlin, they will go online on 23.10.2021 at 9pm CET.

“Life Needs Equipment”

The “Life Needs Equipment” project not only brings back two old acquaintances, but also celebrates the launch of two new silhouettes. In addition to the comeback of the EQT Running Support 93 and the EQT Race Walk, there are two new adidas sneakers, the Equipment Prototype and the CSG 91. Each of the four models gets an OG-inspired colorway.
When it came to the colors for the Equipment line, adidas initially limited itself to white, black, grey and green. This gave the entire EQT line a recognizable look and embodied adidas Equipment’s “no nonsense” ideology. Especially after the wild graphics and colors of the 80s, the subtle design of the sneakers was a successful change.
There will also be three collaborations from the adidas Consortium network on each silhouette. EQT fans can look forward to 16 strong sneakers. Be sure to visit the “Life Needs Equipment” website, there you will not only find the info on the other sneakers, but also an exciting interview with Marc.

adidas EQT History

For the launch of the Equipment line in the summer of 1991, adidas presented four models. With the Equipment Running Support, Equipment Running Guidance, Equipment Running Cushion and the Equipment Racing, adidas was able to cover the most diverse needs of runners. The EQT Racing was by far the lightest of the four models. The Support was for runners who needed extra stability and motion control. For runners whose focus was on additional cushioning and forefoot responsiveness, there was the Guidance. The Cushion promised softer cushioning and increased energy return.

Equipment was more than just a product line. It was a return to the brand’s origins. Away from the playful designs of the 80s, towards pure functionality. True to the motto “form follows function,” the brand from Herzogenaurach delivered “The best of adidas” with EQT. The high quality standards and innovative designs made equipment the flagship. The shoes delivered cushioning, stability, traction and protection – no more, no less. Equipment gave adidas a new sense of identity. If you look back at the history of adidas, you’ll see that thanks to Equipment, adidas rediscovered its own ability to design the best sports products on the market. How important this series still is today can also be seen in the adidas Equipment logo. The Trefoil was replaced by the Performance logo, which is still used on sportswear and performance sneakers today and is one of two adidas brand logos besides the Trefoil.

We are happy to see that adidas is once again giving the Equipment range the attention it deserves. Indeed, there will be some strong Equipment sneaker releases and apparel in the coming months. The Consortium Collabs are just the beginning. This is certainly good news for all Equipment fans.
